Calhoun-based carpet maker ranked 19th by Training Magazine

Mohawk training programs recognized

CALHOUN, Ga., Feb. 2, 2008 – For the second consecutive year, Calhoun-based Mohawk Industries has been selected to Training Magazine's "Top 125" training organizations.

This is the most elite ranking among Fortune 500 companies for Training and Learning Development.

To qualify for the Training Top 125, company training organizations are measured, selected and ranked on both quantitative and qualitative data.

Key factors influencing the rankings include training tied to business objectives; leadership development programs; tuition assistance to employees; number of trainers and subject matter experts; certification programs; and others. An outside research and statistical data company makes the initial recommendations.

Mohawk jumped from its ranking of 64th last year to 19th in this year's evaluations. Mohawk was praised for its New Hire Sales College, which recruits and trains young men and women for a career in sales, and for Antioch plant coater operator training that resulted in significant measurable results.

Additionally, Mohawk Greenworks training, which involved the entire sales team, staff, through plant personal, was singled out as an example of training tied to company objectives.

Collectively, the Mohawk Learning organizations cross all divisions of Mohawk, including Dal-tile University, Mohawk Home, Logistics, Customer Service, Human Resources, Safety, and Mohawk University.

This year's overall winner was Price-Waterhouse-Cooper.

Among other organizations included in the 2008 winners were Microsoft (9th), Verizon Wireless (4th), General Mills (7th), McDonalds (37th), Best Buy (44th), Delta Airlines (69th), the Home Depot (64th), UPS (49th), and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (58th).
